Why you gotta love the big bash

Nothing, not even COVID-19 is keeping the cricket from hitting our shores this summer. And we’re pretty pumped it’s back.

With the Big Bash League (BBL10) already in full swing, you can catch every ball live and loud on our big screens at Varsity.

If you’re new to the Twenty 20 (T20) competition, let’s explain. In BBL, each team bats once and fields once, with the whole game wrapped up in around 3 hours. The game itself is only one small part of it. With Big Bash it’s all about the entertainment.

Still wondering what all the fuss is about? Here’s 7 reasons why you should switch on.

Big name players

This season sees more imports and bigger squads. For the first time clubs can have up to 6 internationals in their squad and up to 3 of them in the playing XI.

Familiar faces include Afghan superstars Rashid Khan (Adelaide Strikers) and his compatriots Mohammed Nabi (Melbourne Renegades), Zahir Khan (Melbourne Stars) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Brisbane Heat).

England big-hitter Liam Livingstone returns for the Perth Scorchers, together with Jason Roy and Colin Munro. And the world’s number 1 T20 batsman, England’s Dawid Malan heads up the Hobart Hurricanes.
