AFL 2021 highlights

Last year saw another epic season of AFL despite facing the many obstacles COVID presented. Although the sport felt a massive financial hit (of 43 million) – immense resilience, determination and unity was found. Each game was packed full of entertainment, and even though the stands were empty, the players worked extra hard to make us proud from our homes.

To pump you up for the season ahead, here we’ve listed the 6 best moments of the 2021 AFL Season.

  1. Tiger’s Shai Bolton wowed the audience with an impressive flying mark that landed him Mark Of The Year at the Brownlow.
  2. Freo’s young gun Caleb Serong took Goal Of The Year, “I’m pretty glad it went through.
  3. Melbourne broke their 57-year flag drought, and saw “MELBOURNE” proudly engraved on the legendary trophy
  4. Optus Stadium scored a once in a lifetime opportunity hosting the Grand Final between Melbourne and Western Bulldogs, which saw over 60,000 people in Perth flock to the stadium.
  5. The local derbies between  Fremantle vs. West Coast Eagles ended with one win each and Fremantle winning their first Derby since 2015.
  6. Ollie Wines from the Port Adelaide Football club won the Brownlow medal with a record-tying 36 votes for his standout season.
