Fast forward to today and us Aussies are amongst the top countries in the world leading the vegan movement. With more of us choosing the plant-based way of life – be it for health or ethical reasons, we’re noticing more places in Perth popping up, diversifying their menus and responding to the call of the vegan.

PLANT POWERED PIZZA HEAVEN

Forgo the mozzarella and get a load of Peace’zas – vegan pizzas packed with all the good stuff. These guys are pizza perfectionists. They hand stretch their own organic pizza bases and make their own vegan cheese to keep you coming back slice after slice.

Peace’zas is currently bunking in with Loving Hut in Northbridge (checking out their naturally delicious vegan menu is also a must). You can enjoy their mouth- watering selection of pizzas every Thursday to Saturday evenings for pick up or dine in (limited seating capacity). They also do gluten free bases and gluten free options.

Vegan donuts galore

When you need a donut fix, look no further than Yo Donuts. This home based, plant based bakery will make your vegan friendly donuts and cakes to order, available for delivery straight to your door. The only catch is it’s a 3 day turnaround, so make sure you plan for that sugar craving!

Order online and stay in touch with them on their Insta or Facebook page to salivate at the latest flavour combinations, stockists and pop-venues.

Yellow coconut curry

For all the curry munchers out there, you can’t go past The Raw Kitchen’s personal favourite – Yellow coconut curry. With your choice of locally made lupin tempeh or tofu with broccoli, sweet potato, kaffir lime, chilli, lemongrass, turmeric and organic quinoa, this full of flavour dish and many other innovative vegan creations are available for order from their home meal menu. The guys are also known for their herbal elixir shots and wholefood smoothies.

Due to dining restrictions, the Freo plant-based haunt is currently only open for pickups and home delivery, but normally this place is pumping with its onsite yoga school Yogalab, ethical store Zero and a Kombucha microbrewery. Be sure to stay connected on their Facebook and Instagram pages for a reopening as restrictions start to ease.

Varsity vegan burger

Rounding off the top 5 is our very own Vegan Deluxe Burger. Undoubtedly the best vegan burger you’ll find in Perth, this beast of a burger packs a punch complete with a potato bun, vegan cheese, mixed veg patty, loads of fillings and our special mayo sauce. All of our produce is locally sourced and is as fresh as they come.

Decadent vegan ice cream

What started as a humble small business in their home garage, Roho Bure Vegan Ice Cream is making a name for itself both north and south of the river. Their dairy free and sugar free vegan ice cream is made from scratch, using only a handful of carefully sourced natural and organic ingredients. It’s the green way to indulge!
