Who’s playing?

If you’ve only just tuned in for the finals and don’t know who’s playing, we can catch you up to speed! The Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns will face off over a potential seven games, depending on the results of the first four. Being their first final since 1993, this year is the Sun’s opportunity to win their first championship.

The Bucks are also returning to the finals for the first time since 1974 and have the chance to win their second title, with their first and only win in 1971.

Season summary

Finishing their regular season at 51-21 (the second best record in the entire NBA), the Suns entered the playoffs with a bang. First defeating the defending champions – the Los Angeles Lakers, they went on to win the Western Conference semifinals against the Denver Nuggets, before beating the LA Clippers in six games in the Western Conference finals.

The Bucks finished their regular season with a record 46-26 (their fifth consecutive postseason return), triumphing over Miami Heat in four games, then the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference semifinals and ultimately beating the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference finals.

This season has been full of injury, with the Sun’s Chris Paul aggravating his shoulder in the playoffs and Devin Booker’s broken nose in the Western Conference finals. Additionally, whether the Bucks’ star player Giannis Antetokounmpo will be able to play in the finals is still a big question mark due to his hyperextended knee.
