Where to watch the Australian Open

As we approach the fourth round of the Australian Open, the anticipation for the final is building.

Scheduled for this Sunday, you’ll want to rally up the troops and come down to Varsity to watch the  final in front of a big screen, with a beer in hand. If the game turns out to be a whopping 6-hour marathon like Saturday night’s battle, you’ll want to make sure you’re in close proximity to a good feed and a good brew. Not to worry, we’ve got you covered.

Djokovic VS. de Minaur

Australian Open Finals

January is always an exciting month full of tennis. We look forward to it every year, sipping on a pint and watching the games on the big Varsity screens—it’s a combination that’s hard to beat.

This year’s Australian Open has not fallen short of entertainment. Saturday night’s game between legendary Novak Djokovic and crowd-favourite Andy Murray was a stand-out. The game saw an epic 5-set, 6-hour battle that ended in Djokovic’s favour in the early hours of 4am.

Djokovic is testing his body’s limits (with a hampered left hamstring), set to play the last Aussie in the tournament Alex de Minaur at 4pm today for the quarterfinal spot up for grabs.

De Minaur is up for a challenge today, facing off against the nine-time Australian Open champion Djokovic, who has only dropped one set this Australian Open. However, playing in front of his home crowd and fueled by the electric atmosphere of Rod Laver Arena, this could be de Minaur’s big shot at defeating the undefeatable.
